Behavioral Policy
The behavior system is simple. Think of a traffic light: green means go, yellow means slow down and stop, and red means STOP. To modify the theory, we will use green for AWESOME BEHAVIOR, yellow for THINK ABOUT YOUR ACTIONS AND MAKE A WISE CHOICE, and red for CONSEQUENCES.
· Every day, the class as a whole, will begin with green. As a class, once the group reaches red, there will be a loss of a privilege (break, upcoming fun activity, etc.).
· Individually, your behavior will be monitored on a clipboard. There is a list of behaviors with numbers assigned to them. If you break a class rule, you will write the corresponding number next to your name. This clipboard follows the three strikes rule. Every week, each student begins with a clean slate. If I see a student has two marks, I will warn him or her. If necessary, the student and teacher will hold a brief conference after class to discuss the student’s behavior. Once a warning has been given, if the behavior continues, the student will receive a detention. The teacher will contact home and a detention will be scheduled. Detention slips are to be brought home, signed, and returned the following day.
· If the original behavior is extremely disruptive and/or inappropriate, a detention will be assigned and a phone call will be placed immediately, followed by further actions.
